Our translation fee is usually based on a rate per 1,000 English words or 1,000 Japanese characters, but another method of calculation may be negotiated where appropriate.

Japanese Interpreting Fees

Interpreting fees are charged per day or half day.  Expenses are normally payable by the client.

Terms and Conditions

All transactions are subject to the Institute of Translation and Interpreting's Recommended Model General Terms of Business for commissioned Translation Work (2002) except as stated in paragraphs (1) - (3) below.

(1)  Paragraph 2 of Clause 10 shall, for all purposes, be taken in conjunction with the following: "Additional compensation of at least £40 for each overdue payment may also be charged, at the translator's discretion, in accordance with the provisions of Section 5A of the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act,1998 as amended by the Late Payment of Commercial Debts Regulations 2002."

(2)  Electronically sent files will be deemed to have been received unless we are notified to the contrary within 24 hours after the agreed delivery time.  If an e-mail sent by us is received satisfactorily by any address that we test, any non-receipt by a client will be taken as a problem to be solved by the client.  (However, we will willingly resend the files to an alternative e-mail address.)
 
(3)  Clients may need to be aware that, as with other languages, Japanese has a range of stylistic variation.  To obtain best results, any special instructions regarding the style must be provided at the same time as the document to be translated.  Otherwise the stated terms and conditions will apply as normal.
